Disney+ Streaming Service: What We Know
Disney announced a couple months back that it would launch its own streaming service with original content and a lot more in store. The streaming service is looking to be some intense competition against Netflix, who currently offers Disney movies and TV shows.
But, once 2019 comes around, it is looking as though Disney content will be taken off from Netflix except for the Marvel Netflix originals like Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Jessica Jones, and The Defenders.
The streaming service will launch original content as well as classic Disney movies and TV shows. It will be streaming roughly over 7,000 TV episodes and over 500 movies. The original content part of the streaming service has projects that have pretty costly budgets that range between $20 million to $100 million dollars.
It’s looking to be the real deal with a Loki show and Scarlet Witch show in the works with Tom Hiddleston and Elizabeth Olsen to reprise their roles for it. Along with another live-action show featuring Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie as the Winter Soldier and Falcon.
Classic Disney movies and newer Disney movies like Moana or Big Hero 6 are rumored to be on the Disney streaming site as well as all of the Star Wars and Marvel movies. Talk about a whole lot of stuff to binge-watch!
With the official name of the service being, “Disney+” it’ll certainly be something to look forward to as it will launch the Star Wars original TV show, “The Mandalorians,” which cost over $100 million dollars for 10 episodes. Bob Iger has even stated that the company is making the streaming service one of the bigger priorities for Disney in 2019.
It is either go big or go home for Disney and they certainly plan on going big. Not much details regarding the release dates of any TV shows or movies has been revealed just yet. Only time will tell once it launches in 2019.
