Boston Vegan Restaurant Recommendations
Veganism is a way of living that prevents all forms of cruelty to animals by eliminating animal products and by-products, such as meat, fish, poultry, dairy, and eggs. There are many benefits to going vegan including better health, environmentalism, ethical reasoning, and more. Many vegans such as myself choose this diet restriction to promote a healthier lifestyle, as well as to discourage the use of animal cruelty throughout the world. While it is quite a dramatic change in diet, and the restrictions are somewhat difficult to manage, the results are life changing and truly indescribable. On behalf of my experience, being vegan the past year has allowed me to explore new restaurants and try new foods. If you are considering going vegan, take it slow, and allow yourself to slowly transition into this new lifestyle. There are many restaurants in the Boston area that can cater to any vegan’s taste in food. Here are a few of my recommendations. Enjoy!
1. My Thai Vegan Café
One of my favorite places in Boston- hands down! Located in Chinatown, this spot is great for lunch or dinner, and the food is flavorful and super affordable. My favorite dishes are the Fresh Rolls, and the Pad Kee Mao, and the Yellow Curry Special. Be aware this location is somewhat difficult to find, however it’s always a great experience and great for Thai food lovers!
2. True Bistro
If you’re looking for a fine dining experience that pays attention to detail with a pleasurable atmosphere this is the place for you. True Bistro specializes in gourmet vegan food, and has a variety of dishes to please every customer. My favorite dishes include the Vietnamese Crepe and the Black Olive Tapenade. You will definitely not be disappointed with all the wonderful food options this place has to offer.
3. COCOBEET
Looking for a healthy pick-me-up snack? Look no further. COCOBEET, located in Downtown Boston, specializes in juices and smoothies, as well as other small vegan treats. Though pricey, each juice is made daily, and refreshes as well as detoxifies your body. My favorite juices include the Minty Matcha and the Vanilla Power Milk. COCOBEET also specializes in acai bowls and other vegan treats that are perfect for on-the-go.
4. Whole Heart Provisions
This casual restaurant is vegan-friendly with a variety of bowls to mix and match. Everything including their Kombucha Tea and smoothies are freshly made in house. This is a great, everyday option for those on a budget. My favorite bowl is the Seeta Bowl with crispy lentils and cauliflower. What’s not to love about customizing your own food to make a healthy, nutritious meal?!
5. V02 Vegan Café
Located in Central Square, this vegan café not only has amazing vegan options, but also a chill and relaxing atmosphere. Specializing in vegan sandwiches and smoothies, V02 Vegan Café offers pastries and desserts for those with a sweet tooth. My favorite dessert is the Sweet Potato Brownie, and their Chunamelt Sandwich is delicious as well. Did I forget to mention this café is connected to a yoga studio? Delicious and trendy!
Just goes to show that if you’re willing to make the lifestyle change to go vegan, you don’t have to sacrifice taste to get the vegan lifestyle benefits. Happy eating!
