2015 Rammy Awards Cancelled Due to Weather Delays
The 2015 Rammy Awards – Suffolk’s own Oscars – have been cancelled due to weather delays that have affected the planning process.
“The weather has really hurt our schedule,” said Dr. Robert Rosenthal, chairman of the Communications and Journalism Department.
Due to the snow days, media production classes are behind schedule, thus putting the students producing films and photography behind schedule, said Rosenthal. Usually, the Rammy Awards submissions would be voted on throughout March, but the submissions have not even been produced yet.
The Rammy Awards Committee – comprised of Suffolk professors – came to Rosenthal last week, having decided the affects of the weather delays would result in a mediocre awards ceremony. Not wanting to harm the reputation of such a significant night at Suffolk University, the committee decided it would be best to cancel this year’s awards, said Rosenthal.
“I agreed [with the committee] very quickly,” said Rosenthal, emphasizing that the Rammy Awards will only come back “bigger and better” next year.
Being the only group adversely affected by the decision, Rosenthal invites current Suffolk University seniors to submit work to the 2016 Rammy Awards next spring.
