Jonas Brothers Breakup: “Reminisce On Memories Cause We’re Gone”
Eight years ago, a band of three brothers stole the hearts of young girls everywhere. The Jonas Brothers, Nick, Joe, and Kevin were just three brothers from New Jersey who wanted to follow their dreams of joining pop stardom. They hit their peek from 2008 and 2009 while touring around the United States and other parts of the world. After going below the radar for about two years, the Jonas Brothers announced their summer tour to début their album that was going to be called “Like the First Time.”
Personally, I have been to 5 Jonas Brother’s concerts within the past eight years. I attended their tour at the Bank of America Pavilion in July of this year. Many believed that the brothers would not attract the same amount of people that they attracted back in 2008. This was completely wrong. There were so many people there that were still dedicated to the band of brothers. Nick Jonas even said, “I like how we can see how our audience has grown up with us.” Even if people did not go for their new songs, people went to relive their childhood memories.
Recently, the Jonas Brothers announced another tour that would be happening this fall/winter. They decided to make it interesting by having their fans vote on where they would like them to go. Boston was one of the few dates they chose. Two days before the tour took off the brothers cancelled it and had someone on their team release a statement of “There is a deep rift within the band.” This worried many of their loyal fans. Some thought there was a fight, a family emergency, or that there was something wrong with one of the brothers. One of the most popular rumors I heard was that people thought Joe Jonas was being put in rehab for drug abuse. This was false.
Soon after the cancellation of their tour, the Jonas Brothers twitter account was deactivated with no explanation. Once again, loyal fans worried and feared that the end was coming. Many fans reached out on twitter quoting what the Jonas Brothers said a couple years ago. In 2009, Nick Jonas said, “You can’t breakup a band of brothers.”
After the announcement of their breakup, the Jonas Brothers appeared on Good Morning America on October 30, 2013. Nick Jonas was the apparent voice that pushed the conversation of the breakup. He told the viewers “I was feeling kind of trapped. I needed to share my heart with my brothers.”
Joe Jonas told the fans that “It was just individual things that we were just butting heads about, whether it was the way to set up the music video or even just personal opportunities.”
Older brother, Kevin Jonas, is expecting a child with his wife Danielle from the TV show Married to Jonas. Kevin said, “I’m going to be going into my first passion which is the business side of things. I’m in the first round of funding for an entertainment fund that will position brands to target millennials so I’m kind of pouring my passion into that.”
Are the Jonas Brothers gone forever? We are not sure. Nick Jonas told Good Morning America, “I think it’s impossible to say forever with anything, I feel like we’re playing it one step at a time right now and, like we said, rebuilding as brothers first and starting there.”
At least that means there is hope for a reunion in the future.
