These runs are catered to each athlete’s ability, whether for competitive athletes or a fun run with family and friends. For charity or holiday presents, proceedings will go toward a good cause. Dress appropriately for the upcoming cold weather as well.

Boston Mayor's CupBoston Mayor’s Cup
Date: Oct. 27, 2013
Location: Franklin Park, Boston, MA
Race Times for Different Age Groups:
Children Races: 10 – 10:30 a.m.
Women’s 5K Championship Race: 10:50 a.m.
Men’s 8K Championship Race: 11:15 a.m.
Franklin Park 5K: 12:00 p.m.
Entry Fee:
Youth Races: $5 prior to event, $10 day of race
Adult Races: $20 prior to event, $25 day of race
The Mayor’s Cup began in 1990 by Bill Squires, and beginning in 1997 has been presented by the B.A.A. and Adidas. It has continued to grow to include athletes with multiple ability levels. The Mayor’s Cup is directed by the USA Track & Field association where the races are used to help train and prepare athletes that are participating in the National Cross Country Championships.

The Boston River Run 5k is a patriotic race that takes place during Veterans Day weekend. The race welcomes runners and walkers of all athletic abilities to create a family friendly environment. It was created to honor Corporal Andrew Narcus, and involves running a 3.1 mile loop along the Charles River by the Soldiers Field Road. The race is directed by the USA Track & Field association.

A 3.1 mile loop takes you through the historical and scenic view of Franklin
Park whether you are walking or running on Thanksgiving Day. The event supports the Franklin Park Coalition’s Youth Conservation Crew. The race provides 20 jobs to young adult leaders.

Special Olympics Massachusetts organizes this run or walk to help raise money for the local Special Olympics athletes. Participation will support the health of individuals’ intellectual disabilities with competition, screenings and education programs. Join together with family and friends while dressing for the holiday occasion. The event is sponsored by the New Balance Foundation and John Hancock.
